Day 01: ADDIS ABABA, up on arrival in Addis Ababa, afternoon Gafersa Reservoir. Here, we expect to see some of the endemic birds like the Wattled Ibis, Rouget’s Rail, Black-headed Siskin, Abyssinian Long claw, the White collared pigeon and Blue-winged Goose. The African-black Duck, the Ortolan Bunting, the Red-breasted Wheater, the Three-banded Plover, the African Marsh Harrier and the African Fish Eagle are to be seen, overnight in Addis Ababa htl.

Day 02: ADDIS ABABABAHIR DAR, flight to Bahir Dar, in the afternoon birding around Lake Tana and the Bezawit Palace. Lake Tana area is one of the best birding sites of the northwestern part of the country. The open bill stork, the Saddle bill stork, the Crowned Crane, the Eastern Grey Plantain eater, the Giant Kingfisher, the Osprey, the Great Black-headed Gull, the Little and Yellow billed Egret, the Black-winged Love-bird, the Red-eyed Dove, the Glossy Ibis, and different birds of prey are expected here, O/N in Bahir Dar htl.

Day 03: BAHIR DAR, morning drive to the magnificent “Blue Nile Falls”. The White throated Serine, the Black-billed Wood Hoopoe, the Red winged starling, the Black-chaste Snake Eagle, the Beautiful and Tekeze Sunbirds, the Banded Barbet, the Augur Buzzard, the Tawny Eagle, the Blue-eared Glossy starling, the Ruppell’s long-tailed starling, the Wattle Ibis, the Red-billed Oxpecker, the White-backed Vulture, Rappel’s Griffon Vulture, the Carmine Bee-eater, the Blue breasted Bee-eater and some others are some of the birds that we will see. Then, drive back to Bahir Dar for Lunch. In the afternoon boat trip on Lake Tana and visit Ura Kidane Mehret Monastery, overnight in Bahir Dar.

Day 04: BAHIR DAR ADDIS ABABA, fly back to Addis Ababa, overnight in Addis Ababa.

Day 05: ADDIS ABABA - DEBRE ZEIT- AWASH, leave Addis Ababa early in the morning for Awash National Park. Stop at Chalaklaka wetland in Debre-Zeit. The white backed Duck, the Knob-billed Duck, the Tufted Duck, the Little stint, the African spoon bill, the Yellow billed stork, common and crowned cranes, the White-winged Black Tern, the Dark chanting Goshawk, the Lesser spotted Eagle, the Lesser Masked Weaver, the Red throated pipit and some others are expected to be seen, Small break at Lake Hora for more bird watching. Lunch will be at Nazareth. After lunch proceeding to Awash national park, one of the best birding sites in Ethiopian Rift Valley, overnight in Awash.

Day 06: AWASH , full day in Awash national park, the Arabian Bustard, the Kori Bustard, the White bellied Bustard, the Rosy-patched Shrike, the Swallow-tailed Kite, the Bristle crowned starling, the Grey-headed and sulpher Breasted Bush shrike, the Gabar Goshawk, the Shikra, the Crested Francolin, common and Harlequin Quail, the palm swife, the Martial Eagle, the different Wood Doves, the Yellow billed Horn bill, the Singling bush Lark, the Red-winged Bush Lark, the Somali-Golden breasted Bunting, the Grey-headed batis and some others are among the birds to be seen, overnight in Awash.

Day 07: AWASH - WENDO GENET, drives to Wondo Genet, after lunch birding around Lake Ziway. The Black-Heron, the Lesser jacana, the Lesser Moorhen, the African pygmy Goose, the Black-headed Gull, the Great-Black headed Gull, the Verreaux’s Eagle Owl, the Red-breasted Wryneck, Breaded Woodpecker, the Beautiful sunbird, the Woodland Kingfisher, the Klaas’s Cuckoo, the common snipe, the Little Ringed plover, Darter, the Glossy Ibis, and the Goliath Heron are some of the species are expected to be seen around the lake. Then proceed to Wondo Genet, overnight Wondo Genet htl.

Day 08: WENDO GENET - GOBA, full day in Wondo Genet, the site for some of the endemic birds like the Yellow-fronted Parrot, Thick billed Raven, Abyssinian Woodpecker and Banded Barbet Moreover. We expect to see the Red-showdered and Black Cuckoo shrikes, Grey Cuckoo shrike, Narina’s Trogon, Double-toothed Barbet, scaly Honey Guide, Crowned Eagle, Arye’s Hawk Eagle, Banded Wattle eye, Sharps starling, Broad billed Roller, Lemon Dove and Half-collard Kingfisher, overnight in Goba htl.

Day 09: GOBA - AWASSA, full day birding in the Sanetti Plateau where we expect to see the Abyssinian Catbird, Abyssinian Woodpecker and the beautiful spot-breasted plover. The Wattled Crane, the Moorland Francolin, the Chestnut napped Francolin, the Cinnamon Bracken Warbler, the Brown Woodland Warbler, the Reddy shull Duck, the African Snipe, the Yellow bellied Waxbill, the olive pigeon, the Mountain Buzzard, the Golden Eagle, different birds of prey, the Slender billed and Somali Chestnut winged Starlings, the Malachit sunbird, the Thekla lark and many other mountain birds will be seen, O/N in hotel Awassa.

Day 10: AWASSA, drive back to the Rift Valley - Awassa for two nights stay, late afternoon birding around the hotel garden and along the lake Shore, overnight in hotel Awassa htl.

Day 11: AWASSA, full day birding in and around Lake Awassa, the woodland near the lake is also so productive. The African pigmy kingfisher, the Lesser moorhen, the Grey Kestrel, the Senegal Thicknee, the Bruce’s Green pigeon, the Hadada Ibis, the Grosbeak Weaver, the Banded Snake Eagle, the Giant Kingfisher, the Lesser Swamp warbler, the Black-headed Batis, the Violet backed starling, the spotted Creeper, the Little Weaver and Irania are among of the birds recorded here, O/N Awassa htl.

Day 12: AWASSA - ADDIS ABABA, drive to Addis Ababa, on the way birding in the Abijata-Shala Lakes National Park. This is one of the best birding sites in the lakes region, O/N Addis Ababa htl.

Day 13: ADDIS ABABA - DEBRE LIBANOS - ADDIS ABABA, early start for Debre Libanose monastery, about 110km north of Addis Ababa via Sululta plain. The Red-rumped Swallow, the Pectoral-patched cist cola and the Black winged Lapwing are some of the birds that will be seen along the road. Around the Monastery we will see the endemic birds like the Black-headed forest Oriole, White-billed starling, Ruppell’s chat and White-backed Black Tit. The Lammergeyer, the Verreaux’s Eagle, the Egyptian and the White-backed Vultures, thee Lanner Falcon, the Little Rock Thrush and the Plain-backed pipit are seen at the escarpment. Late afternoon, drive back to Addis-Ababa, O/N Addis Ababa htl.

Day 14: DEPARTURE
